Day 01: Saturday: DELHI
Report at Safderjung Railway Station, New Delhi by 2030 hours, for traditional welcome & complete your registration and check in formalities Maharajas' Express train departs from Delhi by 10 p.m. Enjoy leisurely dinner on board.


Day 02: Sunday: JAIPUR
Morning excursion to Amber Fort Palace, medieval capital of Jaipur Royalty & later savor Champagne Lunch over an exhibition Elephant Polo Match Return back to the train for leisurely afternoon on board OR Choice of OPTIONAL TOURS of Spa treatment in Palace Hotel, Shop for semi precious stones & popular textiles, visit 18th century built City Palace & World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar. Return to maharajas Express for dinner & depart.


Day 3: Monday Morning: RANTHAMBHORE 
Early morning excursion to Ranthambhore Jungle from Sawai Madhopur Railway station for elusive sighting of Tigers. Later return to train & depart. Lunch on board

Day 03: Monday Evening: FATEHPUR SIKRI 
Train arrives at Bharatpur Railway station in the afternoon & proceed for excursion to World Heritage site of Fatehpur Sikri, one of the first planned city of Mughal Dynasty, built in late 16th century. The Red Sandstone complex offers massive palace & courtyards. Return back to train for dinner & depart.


Day 04: TUESDAY Morning: AGRA 
Early morning arrive into ‘City of Mughal Splendour’ Agra On arrival disembark to visit one of world’s great architectural wonders – The Taj Mahal, Built in Mid 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite queen Mumtaz Mahal,, this incomparable marvel is constructed using white marble and is indeed an architectural masterpiece featuring beautiful inlay work and marble screens The highlight of the morning is a champagne breakfast atop a small hillock overlooking the magnificent Taj Mahal. Return to train & depart

Day 04 : TUESDAY Afternoon: GWALIOR 
By noon, The Maharajas’ Express arrives into royal city of Gwalior – a city where many reigning dynasties have left behind indelible etchings of their rule on all its palaces, temples and monuments which have been well preserved, giving Gwalior a timeless appeal. Following disembarkation, proceed to Usha Kiran Palace, where on arrival, experience Royal traditional welcome, followed by lunch Enter this 120-year-old palace that has played host to King of England, and is set amidst 9 acres of beautifully landscaped lawns outfitted with artistic stone carvings as well as delicate filigree work.

Post lunch, proceed on tour of magnificent Gwalior Fort, admiring enclosed exquisite temples and palaces, out of which the most spectacular is the Man Mandir Palace which is masterpiece of Rajput architecture, and comes embellished with exquisite stone carving & latticework Some other fascinating sights within 3 km fort enclosure include 21 colossal Jain sculptures that depict ‘tirthankaras’ (one who has achieved freedom from cycle of rebirth) carved into rock face and famous Saas-Bahu (Mother and Daughter-in-law) temples that are covered with beautiful sculptures of dancing girls and deities The visit continues to opulent Jai Vilas Palace Museum, a section of which still remains residence of royal family of Gwalior Enjoy exploring unique exhibits in museum, the most exquisite being unique model train made of crystals to serve drinks as well as aperitifs during Royal banquets in Durbar Hall Admire stupendous Durbar Hall with its crystal staircase, arched ceiling with stunning gold leaf work that supports two of world’s largest chandeliers (The legend goes that for testing the strength of ceiling to support chandeliers, several elephants were made to stand on ceiling. A grand finale to exciting day is High tea served in the compound of Jai Vilas Palace. Evening return to comfort of train for Supper. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.


Day 05; Wednesday: ORCHAA & KHAJURAHO 
Enjoy leisurely breakfast on board train as the journey continues through some of most dramatic & picturesque environs towards Khajuraho En route enjoy a stop at be-jeweled town of Orchha On arrival in Orchha, disembark & venture on tour of quaint domain of Bundela Kings Visit Jahangiri Mahal which is excellent example of Rajput Bundela architecture and is a multi layered palace with 132 chambers. The striking feature of palace is sandstone walls embellished with lapis lazuli tiles & ornate jali screens Catch glimpse of rituals performed as you pass beautiful temple of Chaturbhuj which is unique blend of fort and temple architecture (Not to be missed are beautiful chhatris better known as cenotaphs of Orchha rulers lying along Betwa River) Return to train and continue onwards to temple city of Khajuraho renowned for its architecture and exquisite sculptures. Built between 950 and 1050 AD, the temples is superb example of Indo-Aryan architecture On arrival proceed on tour of magnificent temples of Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site Explore Western group that constitutes some of finest examples of Chandela art at its peak. Visit Kandariya Mahadev Temple and Chaunsath Yogini Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and 64 Yoginis respectively Continue to Eastern group of temples Visit exquisite Jain Temples and admire some of finest sculptures and carvings Experience fascinating Son-et-Lumire spectacle that evokes life & times of great Chandela Kings and traces story of unique temples from 10th century to present day . Day 06 : Thursday: VARANASI 
Today, while enjoying breakfast, the journey continues into holy city of Varanasi Being one of oldest living cities in world, Varanasi (also known as Kashi or Benares) has spiritual legacy of over 3000 years A place of pilgrimage, this holy city is set on banks of sacred river Ganges and epitomizes chaos & colour of India in form of lively bazaars, exquisite & bright silk work, festivals, temples, mosques and palaces – that are all found here Following disembarkation, the tour begins with visit to ancient ruins of Sarnath (here Buddha delivered his first sermon expounding principles of Buddhism) Visit the ruins, stupa and Ashoka Pillar, whose four back-to-back lions are adopted as India’s national emblem After sumptuous lunch, visit world famous Varanasi Silk Weaving Centre. Here, you can even shop for some world famous Banarasi silk saris & brocades Proceed for scenic cruise on river Ganges and witness magical evening aarti at Ghats of holy Ganges The chants of Sanskrit mantras, clash of cymbals and drums, scent of flowers, incense & sandalwood and blazing camphor lamp and many flamed aarti raised high in air, makes for absolute magical evening to remember!! Day 07 : Friday: LUCKNOW 
While traversing through lush green agricultural belt of Uttar Pradesh as you relish breakfast on board, in the late morning, the Maharajas’ Express slowly pulls into fabled ‘City of Nawabs’, Lucknow This morning is left for you to explore dramatic ruins of Imperialistic Lucknow as you visit The Residency (started by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daulla and completed by Nawab Sadat Ali for British resident in 1800) Unravel history of Mutiny of 1857 at Residency as you explore its ruins and visit main Residency building that houses interesting Museum displaying original model of the Residency, photographs, old lithographs, paintings, documents and other period-objects Experience imperialistic splendour & mystical elegance of Nawabs of Awadh as you visit their architectural wonders like famous the spectacular Bada Imambara considered to be largest vaulted apartment in world comprising of ornamental gateways, corridors and galleries and ‘Rumi Darwaza’, a beautifully ornamented gateway Following lunch on board, afternoon will be at leisure for you to relax. In evening guests will be transported into glorious era of Nawabs of Awadh as they experience traditional hospitality typical to Royal Houses, celebrating an ‘Indian Evening’ The mesmerizing music, exquisite courtesan dance and Royal Culinary Delights from Nawabi kitchens – all combine to bring alive elegance and charm of Nawabi era Return to train and continue on onward journey


Day 08 : Saturday: Disembark in Delhi on arrival 
Early this morning train pulls into New Delhi. Following breakfast on board guests will disembark at Safderjung Station at around 0830 hours Bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as the ‘The Indian Panorama’ journey comes to an end. Though the royal journey is over, but its memories will live on forever! Breakfast on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 01: Saturday Afternoon: MUMBAI
Self Report by 1400 hours in lobby of The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Mumbai where registration and check in formalities are completed for Maharajas’ Express Train Tour Following this, travelers are transferred to Chhatrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus A welcome drink on arrival while you board the Maharajas’ Express & depart from Mumbai at 1640 hours Your travel begins from the land of Marathas. Dinner on board Overnight on Maharajas’ Express


Day 02 : Sunday: AJANTA Caves 
Morning excursion to World Heritage site of Ajanta Caves from Jalgaon Railway Station. These Buddhist cave temples date were sculpted out of hill sides between 2nd century BC to 7th Century AD & famous for colorful frescoes executed On a ground of mud plaster in the tempera technique, showing incidents from life of Lord Buddha & the Jatakas. Later return to the train & depart. Lunch & dinner on board.


Day 03 : Monday: UDAIPUR 
Wake up in picturesque region of Mewar, which is the most popular & royal states of Rajputana Enjoy leisurely breakfast and admire magnificent landscape of Aravali Hills while arriving into Udaipur - the City of Lakes and Sunrise Popularly referred to as Venice of the East, Udaipur is enchanting image of white marble palaces, placid lakes and green hills and gives a feeling of an oasis of colour in stark and arid region Here, travelers can see picturesque havelis, ghats and temples along Lake Pichola and lively bazaars that make Udaipur one of India’s greatest destinations Disembark train as the journey begins with the visit to the City Palace (the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, with scalloped arches, fretted balconies, and cupolas) Visit to Mor Chowk and see lavish mosaics of peacocks Visit to Moti Mahal that has beautiful mirror work Visit to Chini Mahal that is covered in ornamental tiles Visit to spectacular Zenana Mahal Feel like a king as you experience hospitality at Durbar Hall which is reminiscent of ancient Mewar glory Feast your taste buds over vast spread of International cuisine Following lunch, return to train for relaxed afternoon on board

Day 04 : Tuesday: JODHPUR 
This morning, Maharajas’ Express, continues her journey from pristine environs of Mewar region into stronghold of Marwar region Enjoy leisure breakfast and lunch on board as train passes through some of dramatic landscapes of Thar Desert, arriving into Blue City of Jodhpur Following lunch, disembark & explore erstwhile capital of Marwar - Jodhpur which is set like jewel amidst golden sands and is famous for its magnificent forts and palaces from Rajput era A home to some of finest architectural wonders, here you can proceed on a walking tour of Old Clock Tower market ehile experiencing hustle and bustle of market as well as get insight of daily lifestyle of local residents as you walk through section of blue city (Past some of the oldest houses and havelis) Continue the journey to magnificent Mehrangarh Fort and admire the intricate latticed windows, elaborately carved panels and elegantly curved porches Tour palaces and temples built by successive rulers, with priceless jewels and dazzling collection of arms Highlight of the day is Royal Cocktail evening with wide array of sumptuous Marwar culinary delights that are served in Royal courtyard of Mehrangarh Fort as you admire cityscape from atop Return to train and continue journey to glorious Bikaner Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 05 : Wednesday: BIKANER 
The journey through desert continues and travelers can relish their breakfast on board, while enjoying the desert - the scattered procepis cineraria trees and view of villagers attired in their bright turbans with occasional herd of camels breaking monotony of desert Medieval city of Bikaner was once major centre in cross-desert caravan trade and was popularly known as Camel Country. Day 06 : Thursday: JAIPUR 
Arrival at ‘Pink City’ Jaipur. Built by Raja Jai Singh in the 18th century, the city is truly a pristine jewel in crown of the desert state of Rajasthan. The place is renowned for its magnificent palaces, forts and temples. The exciting tour of pink city begins with unique & enthralling experience – an Exhibition Elephant Polo Match The arrival at the venue will be accompanied by royal military band and beating of ‘Nagadas’ (huge Indian drums) You can either choose to watch or participate in exhibition game After the match, enjoy Cocktail lunch over sparkling wine Following lunch continue the visit is planned to Amber Fort which is situated on ridge just outside Jaipur city. Surrounded by fortified battlements overlooking Maota Lake, the tour includes royal apartments, with striking views of gorge, Chamber of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal), and the Hall of Victory.

Originally private hunting ground of Maharajas, Ranthambore is a National Park famous for its open sightings of tigers, sambar, chital, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, jackal and leopard. Post breakfast at Taj Sawai Madhopur Lodge, return to train and continue journey to fabled deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri that gives travellers the opportunity to admire changing landscape while you savour a hearty lunch

Day 07: Friday Afternoon: FATEHPUR SIKRI
