India Along The Hooghli

Embedded in Calcutta is the soul of poets and writers, providing you a chance to find the illustrious colonial past of the Ganges by a strange journey over the Hooghli , the main arm of the river flowing to the heart of the Bengali soul.


Day 1 Kolkata

Welcome by a representative of Maharajah Driver and transfer to your hotel . Late afternoon, your driver will be at your disposal to accompany you to visit the temple of Kali. Rebuilt in 1809 on the site of an older temple, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Based the name of the goddess, English named Calcutta city which is an anglicism of Kalikata. Legend has it that Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, lost her finger here, making it an important place of pilgrimage.


Day 2: Calcutta - Barrackpore

 you reach the Sukapha for boarding, which is expected at noon in Serampore. Discover the Semaphore Tower, Government House and the Temple of Fame.


Day 3: Barrackpore - Chandernagore - Kalna

Going towards Chandernagore, you start with a short city tour to familiarize with the new environment. Visit the church of the 18th century and the House Duplex with its small museum. Then take a drive to visit the Dutch cemetery at Chinsura. Drive to Imambara, then visit the Portuguese church at Bandel where you board Sukapha navigating to Kalna.


Day 4: Kalna - Mayapur - Matiari

You begin the day with a tour by rickshaw to explore and soak up the atmosphere of this region. Continue to Mayapur to discover the Iskcon temple and visit the river from Nabadwip where the oldest temples are located. Evening cruise to Matiari.


Day 5: Matiari - Murshidabad

Morning visit to a metal workshop in Matiari. Afternoon dedicated to journey to Murshidabad.


Day 6: Murshidabad - Khushbagh

start the day with a visit by rickshaw to Khushbagh, discover of the tombs of Siraj-ud-Daulah and his family. Continue with the Hazarduari Nawas Palace, visiting the great Katra Mosque and 2 large and stunning palace Palis Nashipara and Katgola.


Day 7: Khushbagh - Baranagar - Jangipur

Discover the delightful village of Baranagar with three miniature clay temples. Continue on Hooghly to Jangipur between mustard fields and mango orchards.


Day 8: Jangipur - Farakka dam

Take the morning tour to explore native villages where the silk is woven and rolled (ancestor of the cigarette). The afternoon is devoted to navigating through a channel which is the junction point between the Hooghly and the Ganges, delimited by the dam Farraka.


Day 9: Farakka - Calcutta

Take the city tour to discover Farakka, later, transfer to the station to take the Farakka EXPRESS to Kolkata.


Day 10: Calcutta

Free morning for your final shopping trip and transfer to the airport for the onward journey .
